We have been really, wonderfully lucky with the submissions all you writers have shared with us so far. We’ve received so many promising proposals that we’ve now got a backlog of full, requested mss…and are finding it impossible to catch up. So, starting August 1st, we will, with your indulgence, be ignoring the slushpile for a while. It’s the only way we’ll find the time to dig into those mss. that are stacking up here in the office.
If you’ve got something to submit, and it’s not ready before August 1, please go ahead and submit at your convenience. It won’t get lost. But it may be a while longer than usual before we look at it.
In related news, if you’re getting ready to share your work with us, please be advised of a small (but important, to us) change in our submissions practices: while we don’t require electronic submissions, the deeper our stacks get, the more greatly we appreciate the convenience of handling things electronically. If you simply must submit by snail, please be sure to send only DISPOSABLE mss., and to include some way for us to contact you by email, as the whole era-of-the-dinosaurs paper-submissions thing really gets us down. We’ll be updating our submissions guidelines with this same request in the next few days.
Thanks for helping us read everybody’s work with good cheer.
