We’ve been reading slush again. And while we have not forgotten our earlier promise to put up excerpts from some of Mercury Retrograde’s forthcoming books, we are, as so often happens, behind on website details.
Meanwhile, here is a tidbit that seems of particular relevance today: Mercury Retrograde Press is probably not the place to shop your vampire fiction. Yes, everybody knows it’s flying off the shelves. But it’s a rare vampire tale that will strike my fancy. A vampire in a story is not an automatic disqualification, but current fashions in vampires, like most of what is currently tagged “urban fantasy”, just don’t move me.
And as we’ve discussed before, everything that is published by Mercury Retrograde is a labor of love. My tastes, like everyone’s, are beyond my control. Don’t hate me for not loving vampires. It’s just the way I’m put together.
